Hour in the Prayer Room
Download our “Hour in the Prayer Room” guide (PDF). This will give you ideas of how to engage with God during your hour at FPR.
Prayer Stations
In the main room of the Prayer Room we have several prayer stations:
Pray Global - Write down a prayer for the nations and pin it to the bulletin board surrounding the world map.
Pray Local - Pray over NWA using our regional map and city prayer guides. Write down your prayer and pin it to the bulletin board so we can pray in agreement with you!
Nail it to the Cross - Spend some time at the foot of the cross and nail your struggles, cares, and worries to the cross.
Read Scripture Aloud - Pick up where the last person left off (indicated by the bookmark and arrow) and help us read aloud the whole story of scripture from Genesis to Revelation. Alternatively, you can read aloud from the Common Book of Prayer, Valley of Vision, or Pray the Hours
Communion - Next to the podium and stage, we have communion available. Take it and remember your sins are covered! By his stripes, we are healed.
Answered Prayer - Praise God with us for all the ways we have seen him respond to our prayers at our answered prayer wall! Write your own praises if you have them.
Prayer Through Art - Sketch, paint, draw, or creatively write your prayers and pin them to the green bulletin board by the answered prayer wall.
Types of Prayer
-
Petition & Intercession
In the Lord’s Prayer, Jesus invites you to ask Him for everything from your “daily bread” to his “kingdom come,” for yourself (petition) or for others (intercession). Intercede for your family, friends and church. Intercede for revival in Northwest Arkansas.
-
Confession & Repentance
Paul says, it’s God’s kindness that leads us to repentance. He gently convicts through Scripture and reassuring whispers. As you read and listen, ask like David, “Search me, O God, and know my heart… See if there is any offensive way in me and lead me in the way everlasting.” Pray with your hands open in a position of releasing and receiving.
-
Worship & Adoration
Just as there are many ways to pray, there are also many ways to worship. Sing, dance or kneel on a rug. Read a Psalm aloud, write, draw or simply sit still with open hands. Worship is adoring God with your whole self. The truest act of worship is surrender.
-
Stillness & Centering Prayer
God invites you to center your scattered senses and quiet your soul before him. Stillness eases you into prayer and is itself a form of prayer– God is pleased by your willingness to simply sit and enjoy his presence, accomplishing nothing. He likes you!
-
Contemplative Prayer
Read and reread one verse at a time rather than full chapters. Rest with the Word, reflecting on each phrase and experiencing God’s presence. You can also reflect on your day or year expecting the Holy Spirit to reveal things for your gratitude or confession.
-
Inner Healing
Jesus promises peace, freedom, wholeness and abundance. We receive these gifts through healing. God wants to turn your deserts into gardens, your ashes into beauty, your mourning into gladness, and you shame into everlasting joy. He wants to make you strong like an oak for his name’s sake! He says so in Isaiah 61 and 35. As you read, petition for healing.
-
The Nightwatch
There is no time like midnight to experience the sweetness of God’s presence and minister to his own heart. Through the night, you can keep vigil alone or with friends while “waiting for the Lord” like the Psalmist and “waiting on him” like a servant.
